What is the Responsibility of the Planning Commission in the Myton City?
The planning commission plays a vital advisory role in shaping the community's growth and development.
Here's a breakdown of the commission's primary responsibilities:
- Recommending a General Plan: The planning commission is responsible for drafting and recommending a General Plan and any updates, which serve as long-term guidelines for the town's future development and growth.
- Land Use Regulations: They recommend land use regulations, including zoning ordinances, which dictate how different areas of the city can be used (e.g., residential, commercial, industrial), and subdivision ordinances, which govern the division of land.
- Reviewing Development Proposals: The planning commission reviews proposed developments, such as subdivisions, site plans, conditional use permits, and variances, to ensure they align with the General Plan and other relevant ordinances.
- Public Input and Hearings: They hold public hearings to gather community input on proposed plans, ordinances, and development projects.
- Advising the City Council: The planning commission provides recommendations and advice to the city council on various land use and planning matters.
